GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S PINOCCHIO

Based on the 1883 novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is a stop-motion animated retelling of the famous tale of a wooden puppet coming to life. Set in 1930s Fascist Italy, Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation is darker than those we’ve seen before.

For this project, I created stylized character art based on the stop-motion maquettes and created the brand asset kit, aligning all partners on product & marketing applications. Additionally, I created product mockups used to inspire retail partners in apparel & home-good applications.

Creative Kick-Off Guide

  • Created 32 stylized character illustrations from production-provided photography of the stop-motion maquettes, turning low-res images into high-res illustrations for design use.

  • Created 62 page document featuring logos, character artwork, concept art, marketing assets, and approved designs for marketing & consumer product applications. Asset kit used to unite all teams and retail partners around Pinocchio as a brand.

  • Created mockups of team-created designs to inspire apparel & home-good applications. Used in pitching the brand to retail partners.
